Annette has a somewhat diverse pedigree and brings a wealth of experience across a wide variety of environments, in a range of roles and in a number of countries.
A Wanganui-ite by birth, after graduating from Massey University, her professional career began in the Social Services where she quickly moved into training and management
roles with Justice and (then) Social Welfare. From there she enjoyed a year working at the (then) Auckland College of Education as a lecturer.
Recognising that her skills and passion lay in developing people and organisations, she established a Training and Consulting company in Auckland which operated very
successfully for 9 years servicing the government, social service, corporate and education fields. (Click here to see entities with whom Annette has worked)
Being offered a Contract to go to the States to work as an Interim senior executive to establish a start-up software company was too good an opportunity to miss and thus Annnette
made the move to Milwaukee, USA where she remained for a number of years. During that time, having completed the initial contract, she was engaged by an NZ software
development company to establish a US entity on their behalf to undertake worldwide marketing, technical support and sales.
After the sale of the product to a major player in the software industry, Annette moved to the position of CEO of the US entity and re-crafted the organisation.
With a clear aptitude and real excitement for business, she sought a path for the company that enabled that original passion for training to be recaptured and thus established and
directly managed a training division of the business, designing and delivering programmes and growing Trainers across the USA and in the UK for many very successful years.
As the business evolved, so too did the need to create and operate a dipersed/remote environment. With team members across the USA, NZ and within 18 additional countries,
Annette learned some incredibly valuable lessons as a business leader about what works and what does not and how to manage such an environment. She made plenty of mistakes
- something from which we often learn more than we do from our successes - and has many major achievements to her credit. She has gained much from her experience working with
large and small entities around the world.
Her years in the States, Europe and New Zealand have seen her "wheeled out" to address many conferences and events. She is an engaging and powerful speaker who brings a real
life perspective to her presentations and to her training/learning events.
As New Zealand entities move more and more towards creating environments that take advantage of the benefits of operating a remote/virtual/dispersed/distributed workforce/partner
her work with NZ companies in the past couple of years has indicated a clear need for organisations to stop and look at how they are setting up, managing and leading such
environments - be they government, SME, third-sector or corporate.
The RemotelyAnywhere seminar and learning series and associated consulting services targets leaders, managers and remote workers themselves.
Her approach to learning, knowledge and skill transfer encapsulates both current theory and real-life in additional to practices, strategies, attitudes and behaviours that contribute to
achieving success in establishing and effectively managing a geographically dispersed work environment.
